Let me just start out by saying, that I have the BEST friends a girl could ask for. I have many little groups of friends that are amazing and I love them to deathhhhh.
However, I do have a group of best friends that are the most amazing people. These girls are my life and my rocks. I go to them with everything and they are ALWAYS there for me. I could not have picked a better set of best friends.
When I started this weight loss journey Jan 2011, they were all so supportive. They always told me I could do it and always complimented how great I looked whenever I saw them. Who knows if they really noticed a difference, but they always made sure to motivate me and make me feel good.
Here they are, my loves:

This was taken March 2011. I was already 2 months into my journey.
(look at my pose, i'm such an asshole hahaha)
Me, Jenny, Lisa, Alli, Wendy
This was at my heaviest weight, over 300lbs!
The reason I am dedicating a post to them is that all of us are getting healthy and running! I believe we all have the same goals of running 5ks! Lisa just had the cutest little baby so she will be starting soon! Jenn, Alli and Wendy are doing Couch to 5k (C25K) and I am just doing...who knows, random running haha. My main goal if for all of us to start training so that we can run the Miles for Melanoma of Delaware 5K in September together. I want us all there pushing and motivating each other to cross that finish line! I know I will need their motivation and I hope I can give them mine too!!
M4MDE is a race that is SO important to me and close to my heart. This is the race that my best friend Michelle started when she was diagnosed with Melanoma. She was originally diagnosed with stage 1, and then it quickly spread and she jumped to stage 4. A group of our close friends were all on the committee and we helped raise so much money! It was one of the best experiences of my life and it only brought Michelle and our little group closer. Unfortunately at age 22 Michelle lost her battle to Melanoma in the Summer of 2008, just 3 months before the first annual M4MDE walk/run. I wished she could have been there, but I know she was looking down on us all smiling and so proud of the cause she started. Ahhhh I miss her so much :( Michelle was my biggest fan and she believed in me. She always knew I could lose this weight and always reminded me how beautiful I was and that I was a great person. She is a HUGE influence on this journey I am on. She is one of the main reasons I haven't quit. I bought a black "Fight the Beast-Melanoma" bracelet from Michelle in 2007. To this day I still wear this bracelet every day. I have only taken it off like 5 times in the past 5 years. I love it, and I will always wear it because it reminds me to keep fighting. NEVER give up. If my friend can fight for her life and be so strong, then I can too. She motivates me to keep running when I want to stop. It's because of her that I WILL run this 5K in September! I will do it, and I WILL do it for HER! Because she believed in me and I know she will be rooting for me during that race.

That yellow shirt means a lot to me. We made it together, and that is the shirt I will run the 5K in.
|Wah, I miss you everyday!!!|
|In honor of Melanoma Awareness Month|
Never forget why you started,
and never forget what keeps you going.
NEVER give up.
