This may sound corny but last nights zumba workout was an hour of pure fun and dancing! I love it! I love to just dance dance dance and not care what I look like or what others think! It is amazing!
I was very nervous to go back to zumba. Only because it is a lot of bouncing and dancing around which is something my doctor has told me over and over again to avoid if I can. Now...he did tell me I could run again and I even asked about zumba and he ok'd it. So I am not sure why I was so nervous. It may be because I did Richard Simmons (<3) over Thanksgiving break and my back hurt a lot the next few days. Lots of twisting and jumping and bouncing. It was def sore and zumba is almost the same thing.
Well...I went. And it was AWESOME! I had so much fun getting back into it. The best part was that the same instructor was still teaching it and she is SO much fun. She takes it to the next level of zumba sexiness and coolness. A lot of hip hoppish moves with sexy freak moves in there too. Hahahahaha I love it. No shame here.
I would be lying if I said that I didn't struggle. You can def tell I am way more out of shape than I was before my injury and surgery. I was huffing and puffing a lot and I felt like there were some songs that I couldn't go all out on. It was frustrating because I used to push myself hard the whole class and kick ass. Now, don't get me wrong, I pushed hard...but not at a level I am used too. Oh well...I will get there.
The best part of the class was the feeling I had while doing it and afterwards. During it, even though sometimes I was dying, I just kept thinking to myself "I'M BACK!!!" It was the passion I was looking for to restart my journey full force. The feeling of "I love working out." It was very exciting. Afterwards I felt AWESOME! I was dripping in sweat and it was a feeling I have been searching for since I restarted my journey. I LOVE IT!
|Holy Sweat Sesh...|
As you can see...it was a killer workout! 700 calories in a little over an hour! Annnnnd I averaged a heart rate of 159! That is higher than when I run! I love seeing those stats!
Overall it was an awesome workout. I am excited to go back next week and to keep trying on my endurance. I want to get to the level I was at and then push past it!!!
